When a sibling\u2019s rent expired, he paid. When somebody had another business idea, he was expected to <em>\u201csee what he could do.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\r\n      <p>Each payment looked reasonable on its own.<\/p>\r\n      <p><strong>That was the trap.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n      <p>Family support never arrived as one neat monthly bill. It arrived as separate emergencies, different callers and repeated reminders that he was the dependable one.<\/p>\r\n\r\n      <p>One morning, Chinedu transferred \u20a6150,000 into the emergency account he had been rebuilding.<\/p>\r\n      <p>Two days later, his mother called. She needed \u20a6120,000 for medical tests.<\/p>\r\n      <p>The need was genuine, so he sent it.<\/p>\r\n      <p>Before he had adjusted, his younger brother sent a WhatsApp message:<\/p>\r\n      <div class=\"quote\">\u201cBig bro, please do not be angry. My landlord has given me until Friday.
